Digital Citizenship and Fluencies
Technology is evolving rapidly each and everyday . We are currently in our fourth industrial revolution and in order to stay on track or up to date with rapid change we are faced with we would need to adopt a set of skills that will enable us to adapt and adjust to this evolution in technology , these skills are known as the five fluency skills. The IIE(2015).
1. Media fluency
Consisting of two components :media fluency is the capability to look analytically at any communication and be able to decipher and interpret the true message and evaluate whether the medium chosen was effective. The second part is to allow to create original communication by making sure the message is in path with the audience through efficient and appropriate medium.The IIE(2015).
2. Solution fluency
One would need solution fluency because it is the ability to think out outside the box and creatively to solve problems in real time by defining the problem .It is creating an appropriate solution and delivering the solution as well as doing an evaluation of the process and the outcome.The IIE(2015).
3. Information fluency
The third skill you will need to attain is to be able to unconsciously and intuitively decipher information of different forms and formats so that you are ableto extract theessentalknoowledge and perceive its significance and meaning.The IIE(2015).
4.Collaboration fluency
The fourth skill is the ability to interact with virtual and real worlds partners as well as be able to work with them. Collaboration fluency consists of the 5 e's :establish , envision, engineer, excute, examine.The IIE(2015).
5. Creativity fluency
Last but not least the fifth skill is creative fluency ,this is where arttistic proficiency adds meaning through design , art aswell as stortellling. The IIE(2015).
In conclusion as you can see these five fluencies are essentials in thriving in a world wherethings are rapidly changing.
